Canoe is struggling too, (sadly I cant test it on the original hardware, because I lack a proper TV, but I think it would be the same), especially while the sounds of the skeletons are audible and you shoot (you arent able to hear the sound of some shots). If you can get one, a 5.2v 3A is even better as that will take into account any voltage drop when plugging in external devices such as USB powered hard drives or controllers and still provide the needed stable voltage and current the RPI3 draws. Thats where i have sound issues (crackling) when running SNES9x. The 'bargain' generic 5v 2.5a power supplies have been proven to drop voltage down to 3.5v or even less when under load and end up just being a useless paper weight, ideal for charging phones but not so great when you NEED a stable voltage at all times regardless of load My temps average about 45c even stress testing it If lr-snes9x could handle transparencies as good as 2010 then Id suggest to the retropie team. Edit: So I tried Doraemon (1) with SNES9X and BSNES on the Mini, SNES9X (16) has pretty hefty slowdowns and sound crackling, SNES9x (10) some sound issues and sound crackling, BSNES runs at, I don´t know, half the framerate Maybe I will try SNES9x(05) later, but it seems as if it isn´t possible to get it running properly.
#SNES9X SOUND CRACKLING UPDATE#
Once I connected my Pi setup on a decent sounding system, I started noticing audio crackling on many SNES games and I originally blamed the latest update of lr-snes9x2010.

I do recommend having lr-snes9x as your default if youre overclocking like I am, and if you get slowdowns then set those games to use 2010. After extensive tests on hundreds of titles, I'm assured that lr-snes9x is (as of 11/2017) lighter and more efficient than lr-snes9x2010.

Switching audio device manually Listing your audio cards. It will slowdown to 55-56fps on my overclocked pi3 at 1.3ghz, 1080p, crt-pi shader, and I get crackling sound.

You need to restart RetroArch for this change to take effect. Snes9x EX+ APK 1.5. In recent versions of Lakka, you can go to the Audio Settings and switch the Audio Device using the left and right keys. I use one and have no issues at all with power even with a USB powered hard drive and USB powered hub and overclocking the PI3 to its limits but I also have a a big CPU heatsink and powered mini fan above it. So if you get no sound, it means you need to switch to another card. Get an 'official' PI power supply (5.1v 2.5A).
